Inspirational Story

This is not about Park Estate but I thought you might like to take a look at this story http://traceywalshaw.blogspot.com/
Tracey has had kidney disease for ever and before Christmas it became clear that she would need a transplant.  Her husband offered her one of his and against all odds it was a match.  The operation went ahead at the beginning of the year and the new kidney is functioning well.  Tracey has had a couple of infections and has had to go back in hospital but the future is looking good.
The Walshaws are fab people and this blog is well worth a look.

Switch On

Wow, and I dont say this lightly.  The support we received from everyone was fantastic.  The businesses on Parkgate, Park Ave and Broadway where very generous in giving raffle prizes as were McDonald's, Nando's and Martin's the Bakers and Oldham RLFC.
North Chadderton Singers were brilliant and I for one want to hear more from them.  The staff were incredibly supportive and special thanks go to Ms Eyre and Ms Greenwood.
Our regular young helpers who turn out to every event were brilliant, best raffle ticket sellers in the business.
Father Christmas as always proved a big hit but wouldn't have been there without help from Chaddy the Owl, Chaddy the Griffin and Tony the cheeky Elf.
On Park Estate we owe a big thanks to the Police Neighbourhood team, you do a great job.
Oldham Play Action Group as always were great to work with and made the occasion special.
The event would not gone ahead without the help of FCHO & OMBC and Rev David Penny at St. Matthew's C of E Church.
And a Big Big thanks to our treasurer Vicky Crane for manning the stall tonight and Nisha for manning the stall on Chadderton Christmas market.
A massive thanks to everyone that came to the event and bought raffle tickets etc-you are brilliant.

Just one thing before I go.  We need your help.  We need a little bit of your time to help us do things for Park Estate.  So please think about coming to meetings next year.

Christmas Tree Switch On

The Christmas tree is up on the green area infront of Burnley Lane Post Office on Parkgate.  The lights will be switched on at 6:00 p:m on Thursday 1st December by Chaddy the Owl.
Father Christmas will be there and there will be one or two stalls selling Christmasy things.
We will have a fabulous raffle with some great prizes generously given by local businesses.
So join us for a mince pie and be entertained by singers from North Chadderton High School and St. Matthew's Cof E Infant School.

Subway however

Some of the graffiti present in the subway today.
I am told that this telephone number has not been used for a long time.  So phone 0300 123 5000
No prizes for guessing what this patch is.

Subway before and after

Graffiti

Before and after shots of the graffiti on the Taunton Rd ginnel.  Street Scene did a great job.

Broadway subway

Just had the displeasure of talking to the Highways Agency about the public toilet that is the subway under Broadway. Not a great agency!
If you have to walk through this subway at all you know how bad it is so I am urging everyone to report every bit of litter, every leaf, every bit of graffiti and the rest every time you find the subway unacceptable.  Do this either through their website or by phoning them on 0300 123 5000.
Quote the road number A663 and the structure key number 5801 and keep doing it.  I for one have had enough.

No, not how to make coffee.
Lisa, First Choice Homes Oldham's Housing Officer for Park Estate and PCSO Rachel Presdee will be at 1 Penzance Place the 2nd Tuesday of each month between 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon.
Why not join them for coffee whether or not something is bothering you or not.  You can just have a coffee and a natter.

Estate Walkabout

The monthly estate walkabout is tomorrow.  Please come along.  Meet up with Lisa, Rachel, Jean and Stan at 1 Penzance at 10:00.
Since last month a dead tree has been removed from Park View and a large amount of graffiti has been removed from the ginnel off Taunton-many thanks to all involved.
We are still awaiting repairs to the block paving on Park View.
